The 2010 work summary meeting of the key project of the National "863" Project "Japonica Hybrid Rice breeding and Modern seed Propagation techniques of two-line Hybrid Rice" was held in Sanya.

On March 30, 2011, the 2010 work summary meeting of the national 863 project "Research on Modern seed breeding of Japonica Rice and two-line Hybrid Rice" led by the technological Innovation Strategic Alliance of Hybrid Rice Industry was solemnly held in Sanya. The meeting was presided over by Deng Huafeng, executive deputy director of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center, and hosted by the Sanya Nanfan Science and Technology Research Institute, the project undertaking unit. More than 70 representatives of the project participating units attended the annual wrap-up meeting.
The project consists of six major projects. during the meeting, representatives of each project made a detailed report on the implementation of the project in 2010, the results of work and the work of Southern Propagation. In order to strengthen cooperation and communication, the Secretariat of the Industry Alliance specially invited Professor Wang Haiyang of the National crop Molecular Design Engineering Technology Research Center to give a special report entitled "using intelligent male sterility technology to establish a stable and widely applicable new two-line hybrid breeding system of rice". In addition, the Secretariat of the Industry Alliance specially invited Dr. Chen Wenchang, President of the Chinese species Subnet, to give a special report on the "Alliance Public Information Service platform". On the afternoon of the 30th, according to the research contents of the topic, the meeting arranged two discussion groups for indica rice and japonica rice, and each group held a group discussion on the problems existing in this field. The Japonica Rice discussion Group summarized the ecological adaptability experiments organized from 2008 to 2010, and discussed the identification criteria of male sterile lines in northern japonica rice. At the seminar, the experts spoke freely and made a comprehensive analysis of the key bottleneck technologies and major solutions in this field. Experts agreed that all units should strengthen the extensive exchange of breeding materials, jointly solve common technical problems in breeding through large-scale cooperation, and further promote the development of hybrid rice.
During the meeting, some participants visited the hybrid japonica rice experiment and exhibition base set up by the Tianjin Branch of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center at the Southern Propagation Science and Technology Research Institute of Sanya City. On March 29 and April 1, Academician Yuan Longping, director of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center, also visited the hybrid japonica rice exhibition base twice to inspect and guide the work. Tianjin Branch Center's achievements in the breeding of two-line hybrid japonica rice were encouraged and appreciated.
With the full support of Sanya Nanfan Science and Technology Research Institute, the meeting was a complete success. Sanya Southern Propagation Science and Technology Research Institute, as the stronghold of China's scientific research institutions and enterprises, has provided southern propagation science and technology, consultation and information exchange services for the research and development of various crop varieties, including rice. In the next step, the Industry Alliance will carry out all-round cooperation with Sanya Nanfan Science and Technology Research Institute to build a public experiment and information platform for the alliance member units, and at the same time provide more specific and personalized services for China's southern propagation scientific research work.
