The kick-off meeting on the Construction of Rice Biology and Genetics and breeding subject Group of the Ministry of Agriculture was held in Hangzhou

On February 18, the kick-off meeting and the first academic committee meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture on the construction of the subject group of rice biology and genetics and breeding, led by the China Rice Research Institute, a core member of the alliance, was held in Hangzhou. The main people attending the meeting were Cheng Shihua researcher, director of the China Rice Institute, Xie Huaan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhu Ying, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Wang Xiaohu, director of the Science and Technology Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. all members of the academic Committee of the key Laboratory of Rice Biology and Genetics and breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture, director of regional / professional key laboratories of subject groups, director of scientific observation experimental station, etc. The meeting was presided over by researcher Hu Peisong, deputy director of the China Rice Research Institute and director of the Comprehensive key Laboratory of Rice Biology and Genetics and breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture.
At the start-up meeting, Director Cheng Shihua and Director Wang Xiaohu respectively put forward some suggestions and hopes on the construction of the subject group of rice biology and genetics and breeding of the Ministry of Agriculture. Then there was the awarding ceremony of regional / professional key laboratories, scientific observation experimental stations and the appointment ceremony of members of the academic committee. 13 experts, including Academician Zhu Ying of Wuhan University, were employed as members of the academic committee. Focus on the "discipline group" laboratories and observation stations "Twelfth five-year Plan" research direction. Through the discussion, the committee members put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions, which will have important guiding significance for the construction and development of the subject group.

Rice biology and genetics and breeding groups have built one comprehensive laboratory, five regional laboratories, two specialized laboratories and seven field experimental stations in various rice regions and ecological regions throughout the country. The construction tasks of some of the key laboratories are undertaken by the main member units of the alliance, the China Rice Institute, the Tianjin Branch Center of the National Hybrid Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center, Wuhan University, Shenyang Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, China seed Group Co., Ltd., the construction of this subject group has realized the integrated layout of rice biology and genetics and breeding, and promoted the establishment of a scientific and technological innovation system of rice.
