On April 17, the second China (Sanya) International Rice Forum officially kicked off. More than 600 experts, scholars and enterprise representatives from 12 countries, including China, the United States, India, Iran, Japan and Vietnam, gathered in Sanya to discuss rice breeding research and development, promote rice application technology, and share rice development achievements. The purpose of this forum is "the World Source of Southern breeding, the World Food of Chinese Rice" and the theme of "New era, New 'Rice' Road". At the same time, the "Belt and Road Initiative" Summit Forum on International Rice Cooperation is held.

Yuan Longping, Liu Xu, Xie Huaan, Chen Wenfu, Luo Xiwen, Zhu Youyong, Song Baoan, Zhang Hongcheng and other academicians, Xu Zhenling, vice mayor of Sanya City, Zhao GE, vice mayor of Harbin, and Constantin Liechtenstein, chairman of the American Rice Technology Company and Prince of Liechtenstein, attended the opening ceremony.

Bao Wanjun, chairman of Tianjin Tianlong Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., and Hua Zetian, director of the National Japonica Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center, also attended the meeting.

Nowadays, more and more countries begin to widely promote Chinese hybrid rice in their own countries, so as to solve the problem of feeding their own people. Rice has become an important link between China and the community with a shared future in the world.

The convening of this forum will better practice the Chinese spirit of "Belt and Road Initiative" and strengthen the in-depth cooperation of countries along Belt and Road Initiative in the field of rice.
