In the morning, the expert group came to the experimental base of Ninghe and Development Zone in Tianjin to identify the breeding and fertility of L6A. In the afternoon, the researchers of the company introduced the basic situation of fertility, resistance, quality and yield of L6A to the expert group. The experts gave constructive guidance on the resistance of varieties, the identification methods of quality and the environmental conditions of male sterile line breeding. Subsequently, Professor Liu Yaoguang of South China Agricultural University made a report on "Molecular basis of Fertility Control in Hybrid Rice" for researchers, and explained the research progress of BT type, red lotus type and wild abortive gene mapping and cloning from the aspects of molecular breeding.
L6A was selected by Tianjin Tianlong seed Industry Science and Technology Co., Ltd. and the National Japonica Rice Engineering and Technology Research Center. the male sterile line has the advantages of stable fertility, excellent rice quality, fragrance, resistance to premature senescence and so on. It can be widely used in the breeding of new japonica hybrid rice combinations.
