The 2012 working meeting of the Technical Committee of the National Japonica Rice Center and the 2012 working meeting of the Hybrid Rice Industry Alliance was successfully concluded.
During the meeting, researcher Hua Zetian, director of the center, reported on the center's development ideas and objectives, operating mechanism, direction of scientific research and industrialization, development planning, and current scientific research achievements. The experts discussed the establishment of the scientific research system of the center and the direction of variety cultivation and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions. On the one hand, researcher Deng Huafeng affirmed the achievements made by the National Japonica Rice Center, encouraged them to continue to adhere to the orientation and development direction of industry, university, research and trade, break the traditional line of pure scientific research, and build a new engineering center that integrates scientific research and industrialization. The leaders at the meeting also unanimously said: as a national engineering center relying on enterprises, the center's innovative operating mechanism and research direction meet the needs of Tianjin's agricultural development, and are Tianjin's agricultural window and exchange platform for the whole country and even the world. It is hoped that the center can seize the opportunity of the rapid development of the national seed industry, speed up the development of the center itself, and provide good services for the national japonica rice industry at the same time.
During the meeting, the Industry Alliance made a summary and report on its work in recent years. The experts discussed how to expand and strengthen the alliance, expand its influence, and jointly tackle key problems in hybrid rice technology, further clarified the direction and objectives of the alliance's work, and played a good guiding role for the future development of the alliance.
