Academician Zhu Yingying visited the National Japonica Rice Center and Tianlong Agricultural Company.
On the afternoon of September 21, Academician Zhu and his party visited the company's headquarters. Professor Hua Zetian, director of the center, introduced in detail the scientific research progress and problems encountered by the company in recent years. Dr. Yang Fei, general manager of Tianlong Company, made a detailed report on the general situation of the company's industrialization and future development prospects.
Professor Zhu Renshan and Professor Li Shaoqing of Wuhan University discussed and exchanged views on the application and progress of red lotus male sterile lines in japonica hybrid rice, as well as the research progress and problems encountered in the field of molecular breeding.
At last, Academician Zhu made an important speech. He first affirmed and approved Tianlong Company's normative management, operating mechanism, development model of industry-university-research integration and scientific research achievements. He thought that Tianlong Company paid attention to the construction of talent team. This idea of putting talents first is commendable.
Secondly, he believes that the company's strategic idea of focusing the industrialization of hybrid japonica rice on the main producing areas of japonica rice in Northeast China and Huang-Huai is correct, and highly appraised the achievements made by the center in the research of male sterile lines with high stigma exposure rate and two-line japonica hybrid rice breeding.
Finally, Academician Zhu encouraged the researchers of Tianlong Company to seize the opportunity and dare to challenge on the basis of their previous achievements, hoping that the company would play a good leading role in the field of domestic hybrid japonica rice and promote the development of China's seed industry to make new and greater achievements.
Academician Zhu and his entourage also visited and inspected the center, the company's experimental base, the male sterile line breeding base, and the hybrid seed production base, and expressed their affirmation and appreciation for the high yield performance of a number of high-quality parent material breeding fields such as L6A and hybrid japonica rice production fields such as Longyou 619, and gave on-site guidance.
