The first working meeting of the national rice breeding planning was held in Changsha on May 28, and the preliminary research work of the planning work was deployed, and the investigation report has been initially formed.
The main purpose of this working meeting is to exchange the progress of the research work in various rice areas and study the work plan for the next step.
At the meeting, Director Wei Qinfang pointed out that rice is the main food crop in China, and that doing a good job in planning the development of the rice industry can play a good demonstration role in promoting other crops, and proposed that it is necessary to deepen the research work, thoroughly find out the major scientific and technological problems, major scientific and technological trends, major production technology requirements, and the construction of scientific research infrastructure in the rice seed industry, and grasp and recognize the development needs of the rice industry in the next 5-10 years.
The experts attending the meeting reported and exchanged the progress of the research work in various rice regions, analyzed the current situation and main problems of the seed industry, the development trend and situation, the existing foundation, the analysis of major needs, the suggestions on the organizational forms and safeguard measures for tackling key problems in breeding, and put forward the key contents and supporting policy requirements for tackling key problems in science and technology in the next step.
Wan Jianmin, head of the expert group, summarized the working meeting and affirmed the research work in various rice regions, but it still needs to be strengthened in terms of basic data collection, depth and breadth of research coverage, and puts forward five major requirements for research work and report compilation. first, it is to refine the focus of scientific innovation in the upper reaches, so as to provide reference for the support of the national "973" plan.
The second is to analyze the key technologies of breeding and predict the future development trend, so as to provide reference for the support of the "863" program; the third is to clarify the key issues of industrial development and provide reference for the supporting plan; the fourth is to analyze the scientific research platform that needs to be built and improved urgently to provide reference for the supporting direction of platform construction; finally, it is the innovation of operation mechanism, which provides reference for the support of science-enterprise cooperation projects.
Finally, we will strive for national policy support around the development of rice to serve the development of rice industry and food security.
