Representatives of the National Center went to IRRI to attend the eighth HRDC Annual meeting.

From March 24 to 28, 2015, Li Dehua, a researcher of the Scientific Research Office and Cai Zhuo, deputy director of the Cooperative Development Office, went to the Philippines to attend the 8th HRDC annual meeting held by (IRRI) of the International Rice Research Institute as the representative of the center. The content of the meeting was divided into two items, the exchange meeting of HRDC members and the selection of HRDC breeding resources. Matthew Morell delivered a welcome speech at the meeting, and experts from the International Rice Institute and the African Rice Centre gave reports on 3k genome and the International Rice Informatics Union research, phenotypic network research, rice quality research, the current status of hybrid rice in Africa and the ecological adaptability test of HRDC in 2014. The meeting also discussed and revised the articles of association of HRDC. Subsequently, we visited the IRRI experimental base, including the material selection nursery, the (GRISP) phenotypic network research resource garden of the International Rice Research Cooperation Group, the cold and hot water treatment equipment of two-line male sterile lines and the ecological adaptability test base of HRDC in 2015. The performance of the combination HRDC1511 (LX018) in 2015 was very eye-catching, with moderate plant height, average tiller and grain number per spike above 200. the performance was good. In addition, 25 restorer lines with high stigma exposure rate and 25 restorer lines with good plant type, large spike, moderate leaf and narrow grain type were selected in the HRDC seed selection nursery.
By participating in this meeting, we learned about the current cutting-edge technologies in the field of rice breeding, and promoted the cooperation and exchanges between the center and rice research institutions and enterprises at home and abroad.
